Rangers Turn Back New York, 5-3
|
Texas beat New York on the strength of starter Steve Trachsel's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Texas has 3 straight wins, New York 7 straight losses.
Texas used the bat of Rico Brogna to get the win. The designated hitter hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Rangers ahead, 5-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I liked his command," said Texas manager Sean Norman. "Steve was throwing strikes."
