Pilots Run Win Streak to 6
|
The skies opened up and the rain fell at RFK Stadium.
Seattle starter Alex Fernandez pitched effectively against the Washington Senators at RFK Stadium. The right-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. Fernandez, now 5-5, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 3, and allowing 3 earned runs.
Seattle used the bat of Edgar Martinez to get the win. The first baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Pilots ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"The vibe's good," said Seattle manager Robert O'Neill. "We've got to keep it going."
The first-place Pilots have won 6 straight games.
