Spiders Beat Visiting Cardinals, 5-2
|
Cleveland turned a good effort from starter John Thomson into a win over the St. Louis Cardinals at League Park. The final score was 5-2. The Spiders saw their record improve to 35-31.
The Spiders got a big at-bat from third baseman Kevin Mitchell. For the game, Mitchell was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 21st home run of the season gave Cleveland a 3-0 lead.
"We take it day by day here," said Mitchell, "and today was a good one for us."
