Royals Get Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
|
Kansas City turned a good effort from starter Denny Neagle into a win over the Cincinnati Reds at Royals Stadium. The final score was 5-2. Neagle got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 6 hits and walked 0 over 7 innings. Neagle allowed 2 earned runs. The Royals are off to a nightmare start as they look to defend their championship, notching only their 3rd win in 8 games.
The Royals got an important contribution from right fielder Reggie L. Sanders, who in the bottom of the second knocked a first pitch changeup into right for a 2-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Royals ahead, 2-1.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Neagle told the Kansas City Chronicle.
