Red Sox Prevail, 2-0, Over Minnesota
|
The Boston Red Sox got a magnificent performance from pitcher Pete Harnisch, who stifled the Minnesota offense en route to a 2-0 Red Sox win at Fenway Park. In 6.1 innings, Harnisch surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 6. He allowed no runs. Joe Borowski was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 4 save opportunities.
The Red Sox got a big at-bat from catcher Todd Greene. For the game, Greene went 1-3 with a home run. In the bottom of the third, with the bases empty, he stroked a solo home run. His 6th home run of the season gave Boston a 1-0 lead.
"Runs were at a premium," said Boston manager Brett Williams.
Even with the win, the Red Sox have a dismal 21-45 record.
