Banks Now 7-4 After Subduing Reds
|
Willie Banks was superb against Cincinnati. The right-hander, who is tied for 6th in the FL with a 3.32 ERA, had a sinker that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a 2-1 Cubs victory. Doug Jones converted his 15th save in 16 tries. The second-place Cubs now have a win-loss record of 33-32.
The Reds had trouble solving Banks, who surrendered 1 earned run on 2 hits over 8 innings.
"I tried to mix it up, keep them off balance," said Banks.
