Oakland Befuddled by Avery
|
Steve Avery of the Baltimore Orioles spun his magic on the Oakland Athletics today. He blanked them 6-0 on 2 hits, registering 8 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Avery said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Baltimore skipper Daniel Ward said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Steve pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
In 14 starts this season Avery has chalked up a 5-6 record and a 3.32 ERA.
