Dodgers Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Los Angeles Dodgers and Oakland Athletics played an exciting game at Oakland Coliseum.
Los Angeles beat Oakland on the strength of starter Aaron Sele's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 4-3 win. The winner was Los Angeles reliever John Franco, now 3-4. The loser was Jason Bere. Ricardo Rincon was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 10 of 13 save opportunities.
Los Angeles needed the clutch hitting of Derrick May to notch the win. The center fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the 11th inning to put the Dodgers on top, 4-3. For the game, May had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Oakland manager Jim B.
The Dodgers go to 35-32, putting them third in the United League West Division.
