Athletics Drop Giants with Late Score
|
The Oakland Athletics eked out a 4-3 win versus the San Francisco Giants at Oakland Coliseum. Nobody did more than pitcher Derek Lilliquist, who captured player of the game honors. The Athletics saw their record improve to 39-27.
Oakland left fielder Larry Sheets gave his club a productive at-bat in the bottom of the ninth inning. With runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Athletics trailing 3-2, Sheets hit a sacrifice fly.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Sheets said.
