Marlins Need Extra Frames to Get Past Devil Rays
Orlando right fielder Tim Salmon had a good game, even if his team did not. The Devil Rays dropped a 8-5 decision to Florida at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Salmon was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. The winner was Florida reliever Paul Byrd, now 5-0. The loser was Alan Embree. Florida goes to 43-24. The win puts them 7½ games up in their division.

Florida took a 7-5 lead on Edgardo Alfonzo's 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Orlando pitcher Toby Borland in the top of the 13th.

"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Alfonzo.
