Yankees Topple Pirates with Late Rally
|
Mike Lieberthal left his imprint on the 6-4 New York win against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lieberthal, who is rated as the 7th best prospect by BNN, went 1-1 with 3 walks. The win was credited to Calvin Schiraldi in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Brian Holton took the loss. The Yankees, now 2-0, have been playing some good baseball.
Roberto Kelly aided the New York cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the right fielder was 3-4 with 3 singles.
"If it's down the middle," said Lieberthal, "you might as well hit it."
