Victory Pushes Spiders Record to 36-31
|
The Cleveland Spiders beat the Boston Red Sox, 10-8, at League Park. The win was largely due to the efforts of right fielder Bernard Gilkey, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times. Bob Sebra earned the win to go to 5-5. He allowed 6 earned runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts. Cleveland is now riding a 3-game win streak.
With two out in the bottom of the third, Todd Hundley had a game-changing hit. The Spiders catcher slammed a 2-run single off Mike Remlinger, making the score 9-6, Cleveland.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Hundley.
