Orioles Turn Back Toronto, 5-3
|
Toronto right fielder Ellis Burks was sensational. He went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Baltimore beat the Blue Jays, 5-3. Burks was named the player of the game despite the loss. Roger McDowell converted his 8th save in 12 tries. The Orioles raised their record to 31-36.
In the bottom of the fifth, Baltimore second baseman Miguel Tejada had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 1st and one out, Tejada stroked a 2-run home run to left. It made the score 3-2, Baltimore. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Tejada said after the game.
