Los Angeles first baseman Rafael Palmeiro had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the Oakland Athletics, 6-2. The Dodgers bumped their record to 36-32 with this latest triumph.

Palmeiro had a game-changing home run in the top of the sixth. On a 0-2 slider from Todd Stottlemyre, he banged a 2-run home run to right, giving the Dodgers a 3-1 lead. It was the 20th home run of the year for Palmeiro.

Palmeiro called the win "a collective effort."
