Boston beat Cleveland at League Park, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Shinji Imanaka, who earned player of the game honors. Boston reliever Joe Borowski was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Willie Banks took the loss. Even with the win, the Red Sox have a dismal 22-46 record.

The result might have been different for Boston, had it not been for Todd Greene. The catcher produced a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Red Sox ahead, 5-4. For the game, Greene had 1 double and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

In postgame comments, Greene said, "I think we gave the fans their money's worth."
