Bell Slugs Cubs to 4-1 Win
|
Chicago right fielder Derek Bell was a significant contributor in his team's 4-1 triumph over the Texas Rangers. He went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for Chicago. Doug Jones converted his 16th save in 19 tries. Chicago is now 39-29.
Bell had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 fastball from Angel Miranda, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Cubs a 3-1 lead. It was the 6th home run of the year for Bell.
"We played hard and won," said Bell. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
