White Sox Continue Skid Thanks to Lankford, Royals
|
Kansas City center fielder Ray Lankford was instrumental in his team's 18-5 win over the Chicago White Sox. Lankford, who is tied for 7th in the FL in triples with 3, went 3-4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Royals. Rick Reed, credited with the win, is now 7-5. He allowed 5 runs on 7 hits in 9 innings. The White Sox, at 22-47, have lost 4 straight games.
Kansas City needed the clutch hitting of Rick Wilkins to notch the win. The catcher hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Royals on top, 6-3. For the game, Wilkins had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Wilkins told the Kansas City Chronicle. "It's as simple as that."
