The Toronto Blue Jays easily defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 14-2, at Memorial Stadium, with catcher Darrin Fletcher a main contributor to the win. He went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2 for Toronto. Toronto is now 35-34, while Baltimore is 31-37.

It could have been a different outcome for Toronto, had it not been for Lance Johnson, the two-time Gold Glove winner . Johnson contributed a bases-clearing double in the top of the first inning to put Toronto up, 3-0.

"Baseball is about momentum," said Johnson, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
