Ismael Valdez Goes Distance in Win
San Diego Padres starter Ismael Valdez turned in a top-notch performance against the Colorado Rockies at Mile High Stadium. The result was a win for the Padres, 5-1. San Diego has now won 3 straight, while the Rockies have lost 3 in a row.

The Padres liked what they saw from Valdez. The 21-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Rockies to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 9 innings, and striking out 7.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Valdez told the San Diego Observer.
