Red Sox Sneak Past Yankees, 2-1
|
The Boston Red Sox scored a 2-1 win versus the New York Yankees at Yankee Stadium. Boston pitcher Erik Hanson nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Boston currently is in 4th place in the Federal League East Division at 36-35.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Henry L. Rodriguez came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing New York pitcher Larry Casian, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Boston on top, 2-1.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Boston manager Brett Williams said.
