Royals Get Close Win Over Twins
The Royals had to overcome a fine effort from Minnesota pitcher Hideo Nomo to grab a narrow 3-2 win at Royals Stadium. Nomo went 7 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Kansas City is now 46-24, 5 games up in the Federal League Central Division.

The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Jeromy Burnitz came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Minnesota pitcher Trevor Hoffman, he hit a first pitch fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Kansas City on top, 3-2.

"We've got a great group of guys," Burnitz said, "and we're having fun right now."
