Martinez Finds Groove in 4-1 Triumph
|
The Montreal Expos picked up a win at RFK Stadium, knocking off the Washington Senators, 4-1. Starting pitcher Pedro Martinez, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. The Expos have an impressive 44-27 record.
Martinez, the winner, is now 7-5 after putting the clamps on the Washington offense. In 9 innings of work, he gave up 1 earned run on 2 hits, while collecting 8 Ks.
"Pedro was throwing strikes, locating well," said Montreal manager David Polakoff.
