Pilots Double Up San Diego, 4-2
Seattle pitcher Chris Haney did his part in helping his team beat the San Diego Padres, 4-2. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. In 7 innings, Haney surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 1. He allowed 2 runs. Seattle now sits in second place in the United League West Division at 34-36.

With runs few and far between, the Pilots had to seize their opportunities when they came. One of the most important chances for Seattle came in the top of the fourth inning, when right fielder Dante Bichette delivered a 2-run home run. The home run was hit off Mark Langston and made the score 4-0, Pilots. Bichette went 1 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once.

"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Haney told the Seattle Chronicle. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
