Royals Bang Out 6-2 Win Versus St. Louis
It was a good time at Royals Stadium, where fans came to watch the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Royals get after it.

Kansas City right fielder Orlando Merced played a vital role in his team's 6-2 triumph over St. Louis. He went 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Kansas City. Kansas City goes to 48-23. The win puts them 3 games up in their division.

There was more than one reason the Royals beat the Cardinals, but Merced's big at-bat in the bottom of the sixth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 3-2 lead when he hit a run-scoring double.

In postgame comments to the Kansas City Chronicle, Merced said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
