Twins Stymie Chicago, Take 8-1 Win
|
The Minnesota Twins racked up a win at Wrigley Field, bumping off the Chicago Cubs, 8-1. Pedro Astacio, who started for Minnesota, pitched effectively for his team. Astacio, now 4-6, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 3, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. Minnesota, at 33-39, occupies 5th place in the Federal League Central Division.
Mark Grudzielanek had a productive at-bat for the Twins with no one out in the top of the second. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, the shortstop hit a 2-run double. The at-bat was important in the Minnesota win.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Twins manager Darren Fischbach, "I like our chances."
