Spiders Clip Twins in Tight Contest
Darin Erstad had a good game, but he could not keep the Minnesota Twins from falling, 5-4, to the Cleveland Spiders at Metrodome. The Minnesota center fielder went 4-4 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk in the loss. The winner was Cleveland reliever Willie Banks, now 1-0. The loser was Rob Dibble. The win gives the Spiders a record of 4-4.

Marquis Grissom had a productive trip to the plate with one out in the top of the eighth inning. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a single, helping Cleveland to the win.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach. "But we decided not to take it."
