Giants Subdue San Diego, 4-2
The San Francisco Giants topped the San Diego Padres, 4-2, in United League action at Jack Murphy Stadium. The player of the game was San Francisco pitcher and El Paso, Texas native Butch Henry. Henry went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 2, and struck out 2. His record improves to 4-4. Randy Myers converted his 15th save in 17 tries.

The Padres had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Giants going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the former first round draft pick Darryl Hamilton came to the plate. Hamilton hit a 2-run home run on a 0-2 changeup from San Diego hurler Tom Rowe. It was Hamilton's 3rd home run of the year.

"I felt we were ready to go," said San Francisco manager Alen Maglajac. "Our pregame was pretty good."

The Giants now have a record of 41-32.
