The Kansas City Royals defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 10-3, at Royals Stadium. Kansas City left fielder Reggie L. Sanders was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Kansas City leads the Federal League Central Division by 6½ games.

Sanders put Kansas City up, 4-1, when he hit a 2-run home run off Jim Abbott in the bottom of the fourth. His 10th home run of the season helped the Royals capture the win.

"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," Sanders told the Kansas City News.
