Streaking Cardinals Win Another One
|
Dickie Thon made an impact in the 6-4 St. Louis win over Orlando. Thon, who finished 3rd in the FL in doubles with 41 in 1986, went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Joe Johnson got the win, improving to 6-4. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. This win makes it 14 in a row for St. Louis.
It could have been a different outcome for St. Louis, had it not been for Stan Javier, the three-time All-Star . Javier contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put St. Louis up, 3-2.
"We'll savor this win," Thon told the St. Louis Daily News, "then get ready for the next game."
