White Sox Lose to Pirates, 4-3
|
The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Comiskey Park, knocking off the Chicago White Sox, 4-3. Starting pitcher Butch Henry, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Henry picked up the win for Pittsburgh, going 8 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. The save was credited to Bryan Harvey, his 3rd.
It could have been a different outcome for Pittsburgh, had it not been for Ed Taubensee, the top prospect . Taubensee contributed a 2-run single in the top of the seventh inning to put Pittsburgh up, 4-1.
Chicago manager Dustin Hafler said he was "mildly disappointed" with the loss. "We had our opportunities, but we didn't take advantage of them," he said.
Every game is important, even these early ones, if the Pirates hope to make a postseason run.
