St. Louis Bats Go Silent in 3-0 Loss
|
New York Yankees starter Mark Clark was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the St. Louis Cardinals, 3-0. Clark, now 3-8, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 6, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. The save was Doug Simons's, his 2nd.
Mike Lieberthal, who is tied for 7th in the FL with a .300 batting average, chipped in for New York with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"I liked his command," said New York manager Tigerr Wolfe. "Mark was throwing strikes."
New York now sits in last place in the Federal League East Division at 23-53.
