Twins Edge Past Sun Rays, 2-1
|
In a well-pitched game between the Minnesota Twins and the Orlando Sun Rays, pitcher Hideo Nomo was superb. The Minnesota right-hander was named the player of the game in Minnesota's 2-1 win. Rob Dibble picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-0. Rod Beck was tagged with the loss. The Twins' win now puts them at 36-40.
There were several reasons the Twins beat the Sun Rays, but one factor was Reggie B. Williams. In the bottom of the tenth, the Minnesota center fielder came to bat and hit a walk-off solo home run. It staked his team to a 2-1 lead.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach said.
