Victory Pushes Senators Record to 39-37
The Washington Senators defeated the Oakland Athletics, 7-3, in United League action at RFK Stadium, with Washington pitcher Chad Ogea named player of the game. Ogea went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 6-5. The Senators bumped their record to 39-37 with this latest triumph.

The Senators got an important contribution from left fielder Carl Everett, who in the bottom of the seventh hit a full count fastball into left-center for a 2-run home run. It was his 15th home run of the season and put the Senators ahead, 5-3.

"We'll savor this win," Everett told the Washington Observer, "then get ready for the next game."
