Orioles Walk It Off for 39th Win of Season
|
The Baltimore Orioles got a rather unremarkable outing from starting pitcher Dwight Gooden, but it was good enough for the club to take a 4-3 decision over the Seattle Pilots. Baltimore reliever Julian Tavarez got the win, raising his record to 2-1. Jeff Brantley was tagged with the loss. The Orioles bumped their record to 39-37 with this latest triumph.
With no one out in the bottom of the 11th, Kent Hrbek had a game-changing hit. The Orioles first baseman slammed a run-scoring single off Jeff Brantley, making the score 4-3, Baltimore.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Seattle manager Robert O'Neill said following the tough loss.
