Pirates Win Thriller, 3-2
|
Pittsburgh Pirates starter Butch Henry was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Texas Rangers, 3-2. Pittsburgh has 3 straight wins, Texas 5 straight losses.
There were several reasons the Pirates beat the Rangers, but one factor was Bobby Bonilla. In the bottom of the tenth, the Pittsburgh first baseman came to bat and hit a walk-off solo home run. It staked his team to a 3-2 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Texas manager Sean Norman. "But we decided not to take it."
