White Sox Walk It Off for 23rd Win of Season
|
The Chicago White Sox stopped the New York Yankees, 8-5, behind an impressive performance from Kurt Abbott. The 26-year old third baseman made life miserable for New York pitching. He went 2-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. Even with the win, the White Sox have a dismal 23-55 record.
In the bottom of the ninth inning, Abbott went to the plate for the White Sox. With the clubs tied 5-5, he saw a 0-2 fastball from German Jimenez and hit a walk-off 3-run home run to put the White Sox on top, 8-5.
"I'm glad I could get it done when the game was in the balance," Abbott said in his postgame press conference.
