The San Francisco Giants overcame a good performance by New York left fielder Cliff Floyd to knock off New York, 9-5, at Candlestick Park. Floyd was 1-2 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. San Francisco improves to 52-25 with the win. They lead their division by 14 games.

The Giants got a big at-bat from second baseman Delino DeShields. For the game, DeShields went 1 for 4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 15th double of the season gave San Francisco a 5-4 lead.

"Our guys are never satisfied," said San Francisco manager Alen Maglajac.
