Red Sox Top Cubs in Extras
|
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Fenway Park, knocking off the Chicago Cubs, 4-3. Starting pitcher Pete Harnisch, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Even with the win, the Red Sox have a dismal 26-52 record.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 14th inning, when Boston shortstop Scott Fletcher, facing Frank DiPino, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Red Sox the 4-3 win.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Chicago skipper Anthony Perez.
