Fryman Slugs Yankees to 10-4 Win
|
The St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees cranked it up at Yankee Stadium.
The New York Yankees knocked off the St. Louis Cardinals, 10-4, at Yankee Stadium. Travis Fryman, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason New York won. The third baseman hit 2 home runs. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice. Brian Bohanon, who went 8.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 5-10.
Fryman put New York up, 8-0, when he hit a grand slam home run off Mike J Grace in the bottom of the second. His 13th home run of the season helped the Yankees capture the win.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Fryman told a New York Chronicle reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
New York is now riding a 4-game win streak.
