Sun Rays Edge Yankees, 7-6
|
The Orlando Sun Rays knocked off the New York Yankees, 7-6, at Orlando Citrus Bowl. Ken R. Williams, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Orlando won. The left fielder was 2 for 3 with 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The win was credited to Rod Beck in relief. His record improves to 2-4. Andy Ashby took the loss. New York, at 32-48, has lost 4 straight.
Craig Biggio had a productive at-bat for the Sun Rays with no one out in the bottom of the ninth. With the bases loaded, the second baseman hit a run-scoring single. The at-bat was important in the Orlando win.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Orlando manager Ben Tennyson.
