Pittsburgh starter David Nied had a strong outing against the Cincinnati Reds at Three Rivers Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. Pittsburgh currently is in second place in the Federal League East Division at 45-35.

Robin Ventura aided the Pittsburgh cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman drove in one run.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Ventura. "And not try to do too much."
