Giambi hits 2 home runs to Pull Knights to .500
|
Jason Giambi knocked in 5 runs to help Charlotte beat St. Louis, 8-4. Giambi produced 1 single and 2 home runs. Charlotte reliever Mike Hartley picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Scott Erickson was collared with the loss. Matt Mantei was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 8 save opportunities.
Giambi had a game-changing single in the bottom of the sixth. On a 0-1 slider from Rusty Meacham, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Knights a 6-4 lead. It was the 83rd hit of the year for Giambi.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Charlotte skipper Tyler Vuxta.
The Knights now have a record of 41-41.
