San Diego played host to Los Angeles at the friendly confines of Jack Murphy Stadium.

Starting pitcher Pete Schourek pitched well enough to help the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers by the score of 7-5. Robb Nen, credited with the save, is now 15 for 16 in save opportunities.

Manuel Lee put San Diego in front, 3-0, when he took Ugueth Urbina downtown. His 2-run home run came with two out in the bottom of the second. It was his 1st home run of the season.

"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Schourek. "Successful pitchers do it."

San Diego's record now stands at 36-46, placing them last in the United League West Division.
