Yankees Win at Pittsburgh, 7-1
|
New York pitcher Shawn Estes did his part in helping his team beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 7-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. With the win over Pittsburgh, the Yankees improved to 34-50.
The result might have been different for New York, had it not been for Kelly Gruber. The third baseman produced a run-scoring double in the top of the second inning to put the Yankees ahead, 2-0. For the game, Gruber had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We'll relax tonight and enjoy this win," said Gruber.
