Yankees Clip Spiders in Tight Contest
|
New York Yankees starter Brian Bohanon pitched a strong game against the Cleveland Spiders at Yankee Stadium, leading the Yankees to a 4-2 win. New York reliever Jose Mesa picked up the win, upping his record to 2-5. Juan Nieves absorbed the loss. New York is now riding a 3-game win streak.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the bottom of the eighth inning. That's when catcher Mike Lieberthal, who is tied for 4th in the FL with a .299 batting average, hit a double. The Yankees went on to win.
"It was just a matter of executing," said New York manager Tigerr Wolfe.
