The New York Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 8-5, at Shea Stadium. New York third baseman Dave Magadan was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 times. Mike Morgan got credit for the win, improving to 11-4. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 7.1 innings. The Mets bumped their record to 48-35 with this latest triumph.
Greg Colbrunn was 2 for 4 with a triple, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once against the Orioles. In the bottom of the first inning, he hit a 2-run single, putting New York in front, 2-0.
"Enjoyed this one," Colbrunn told the New York Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
