Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl
Saturday, May 24th, 1997
Olmedo Saenz of the New York Mets and Jose Lima of the Seattle Pilots will be on the sidelines for a few days. They have been suspended for 4 and 2 games respectively by the league office for causing the bench-emptying free-for-all at the recent Mets-Pilots game at Shea Stadium.

Neither player had any comment about the suspensions. Both clubs told BNN Saenz and Lima will begin serving them soon.

In 41 games this season Saenz has batted at a .218 pace with 29 hits and 4 home runs.

His record this season is 2-2 in 0 starts and Lima has a 3.72 ERA.
