Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl Saturday, May 24th, 1997 Olmedo Saenz of the New York Mets and Jose Lima of the Seattle Pilots will be on the sidelines for a few days. They have been suspended for 4 and 2 games respectively by the league office for causing the bench-emptying free-for-all at the recent Mets-Pilots game at Shea Stadium.
Neither player had any comment about the suspensions. Both clubs told BNN Saenz and Lima will begin serving them soon.
