Orioles Wells Silences Detroit Friday, May 30th, 1997 Today was David Wells's turn in the rotation for the Baltimore Orioles and he made the most of it, shutting out the Detroit Tigers on 6 hits. The 34-year-old left-hander led the Orioles to an easy 7-0 victory, allowing no walks and tallying 7 strikeouts. "I hope we miss him next time," Detroit manager Julio Izquierdo said.
