Palmeiro on Fire, Named Player of the Week Monday, June 16th, 1997 The Los Angeles Dodgers received word today that first baseman Rafael Palmeiro was selected United League Player of the Week for his stellar performance in last week's games. Palmeiro took full advantage of all 26 plate appearances last week as he hit .348 with 8 hits, 5 home runs, 9 RBIs and 7 runs scored. This year Palmeiro has collected a .249 batting average to date with 64 hits in 257 at-bats, 42 RBIs, 21 home runs and scored 45 times. He has played in 69 games. |
