Young Sparkles in Shutout
Monday, June 16th, 1997
Matt Young of the Milwaukee Creams spun his magic on the St. Louis Cardinals today. He blanked them 9-0 on 10 hits, registering 2 strikeouts and 1 walk.
"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Young said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."
Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, Milwaukee skipper Sean Norman said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."
"Matt pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.
In 15 starts this season Young has registered a 7-2 record and a 3.13 ERA.
