Mets, Castillo Blank Rockies
Sunday, June 22nd, 1997
Frank Castillo of the New York Mets spun his magic on the Colorado Rockies today. He blanked them 14-0 on 2 hits, registering 4 strikeouts and 3 walks.

"The bottom line was I just kept the ball down," Castillo said. "My breaking stuff was down. Everything was down."

Talking to reporters in the postgame interview, New York skipper Michael Kritikos said the team "got solid pitching, good defense and took great team at-bats in a lot of different situations."

"Frank pitched really well but this was a solid performance by everyone," he said.

To date this year, Castillo shows a 7-7 record, 16 starts, 121.1 innings, 101 strikeouts and a 3.78 ERA.
